Victim Photo Exclusive: Trestle of Death Claims A Monster Hunter

On Saturday, April 23, 2016, a young woman and young man tempted fate and one died off of Kentucky's Pope Lick Creek Trestle. I posted the news of this tragedy at my other blog, Cryptozoonews, in "Woman Killed Searching For Pope Lick Monster," (Coleman, 2016), yesterday. The woman has been identified as Roquel Bain, 26, and this appears to be her image.

In Roquel Bain's purse, investigators found a work badge at the trestle death site that indicated she had worked as a surgical assistant (Warren, . The photograph above, online, identifies this individual as "Roquel Bain, Surgical Technology," (photobucket, 2016).

The specifics of this incident at Pope Lick Creek is interwoven with twilight language, and deserves a look here, as well.

The Pope Lick Monster is one of the urban legends that are vaguely referenced in sightings and stories of Goatmen and Satyrs seen in various locations (e.g Fairfax County, Virginia; Plain Dealing, Louisiana; Lincoln, Nebraska; Pope Lick Creek, Kentucky), (Hall, 2005; Coleman, 2009).

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Eighth Division responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the 3100 block of South Pope Lick Road, off Taylorsville Road just outside of the Gene Snyder/Interstate 265. Bain had fallen 100 feet after being hit. (WAVE, 2016a, 2016b).

With the discovery of the body, an unfortunate story unfolded.

Roquel Bain of Dayton, Ohio, and an as-yet-unidentified boyfriend had purchased tickets to the 10:00 pm "haunted tour" of the Waverly Hills Sanatorium on Saturday night, April 23, 2016.

The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a closed sanatorium located in southwestern Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky. It opened in 1910 and closed in 1961.
Waverly Hills has been popularized on the television show Ghost Hunters as being one of the "most haunted" hospitals in the eastern United States. The sanatorium was featured on ABC/FOX Family Channel's Scariest Places On Earth, VH1's Celebrity Paranormal Project, Syfy's Ghost Hunters, Zone Reality's Creepy, the British show Most Haunted, Paranormal Challenge and Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also popularizing Waverly Hills was the film Spooked: The Ghosts of Waverly Hills Sanatorium, released in 2006, which purports to document paranormal sightings at the site.(Wikipedia, 2016a).
The popularity of the Waverly Hills Sanatorium and the associated tours has increased greatly by the location being featured in so many reality programs.

The boyfriend told officials he and Bain came to town from Dayton for a paranormal tour scheduled from 10 p.m. to midnight Saturday.

Brandon Barnes, a security guard at Waverly Hills Sanatorium, said Bain had purchased two tickets online for $25 each for Saturday night's guided tour, which was attended by 45 ghost hunters.

As Bain and her male companion were early, and waiting for the sanatorium tour, they learned of the local legend of the "Pope Lick Monster." (The 1988 indie documentary The Legend of the Pope Lick Monster is well-known locally.) They decided to go "check it out," and found the railroad trestle. Thinking it was an abandoned railway, they decided to go up on it and look for the "Monster," despite the warning signs on private property.

The couple was soon surprised by an oncoming train. Despite the best efforts of the Norfolk Southern train's engineer to warn them off the track by blowing the horn and trying to stop the train, the train struck Bain. The two, reportedly, decided to hang off the side of the trestle. Bain could not move fast enough, and was hit. After being struck, she was dragged 80 feet and fell off the trestle. When found by first responders, Bain was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:39 p.m. (No drugs or alcohol was involved in this situation.)
The deputy coroner said he personally has investigated a handful of fatal train incidents that ranged from a homeless person falling asleep on the tracks, to a thrill seeker misjudging the time they had to get off the tracks to someone committing suicide. He said this is the first victim confirmed searching for the monster.
During his investigation, Arnold said he has learned that the area is popular with teens and young adults - especially on New Year's.
One Instagram photo from 2014, which got 188 likes, shows an Eastern High School graduate and a friend with their legs dangling off the trestle and proclaiming, "The Pope Lick Monster didn't get us, but a train almost did!" (Warren, 2016)

The nickname of the site is the "Trestle of Death," and this appears to be linked to deaths from 1986 and 1987. The Louisville Courier-Journal of December 30, 1988, published a page one essay, in the lower left-hand corner, "Trestle of Death," which detailed these two incidents (Louisville Courier-Journal, 2012).

Jack “J.C.” Charles Bahm II, 17, a Spalding University student, was attempting to make it across the trestle when he was hit and killed by a train on February 18, 1987. Graffiti on the trestle appears, now and then, recalling that event with messages such as “JC we love and miss you” in spray paint. Nineteen-year-old David Wayne Bryant, 19, was injured severely in 1986 when he jumped from the trestle to dodge an oncoming locomotive. Bryant died in May 1987, from those injuries. (See more on the "Wayne name game," here.)

In the fiction play, The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek by Naomi Wallace (Broadway Play Pub, 2000), the story of the trestle and death is set the 1930s.
Trestle is set in 1936 in a in a town so dull that the only thing young people can pit themselves against, the only thing greater than them, is the 7:10 train with its 153-ton engine and deafening roar. So we find Dalton and Pace, who becomes his girlfriend despite his repeated insistence that she is not pretty, making plans to test themselves by trying to outrun the train on a trestle a hundred feet above a dry creek bed. Another boy from their town tried it recently and died.... By the end, the play, like that train, has built up a full head of steam and we feel its power. --Anita Gates, The New York Times

According to 2016 news accounts (see references below), either the Bain death is the only fatality directly associated with the hunt for the Pope Lick Monster, or it is one of many.

The surname Bain originates in Scotland/northern England, where it was originally a nickname meaning "bones." It is also from the Welsh ap Einws, (son of Einws = "anvil"). SE shared that Baine is derived from the Irish word meaning "pale or white."

But there are other meanings. It is said to be from Middle English bainbaynebaynbeen (“direct, prompt”), from Old Norse beinn (“straight, right, favorable, advantageous, convenient, friendly, fair, keen”), from Proto-Germanic bainaz (“straight”), from Proto-Indo-European bhei-(“to hit, beat”). Cognate with Scots beinbien (“in good condition, pleasant, well-to-do, cozy, well-stocked, pleasant, keen”), Icelandic beinn (“straight, direct, hospitable”), Norwegian bein(“straight, direct, easy to deal with”).

James Shelby Downard's research in King Kill 33 notes that Bain relates to Bane ("fatal cause of mischief"), and in Scottish legend, the Bain Fairy is a death fairy who is the keeper of the Bain BridgeKing Kill 33 noted the American battleship Bainbridge, which was dedicated by Lyndon Baines Johnson, is a harbinger of death, according to Downward, (Coleman, 2012a, 2012b, 2012c).

Author Jim Brandon (personal communication, 2012) shared his insights about Bane/Bain:
Question is, did James Shelby Downard anticipate the whole thing? In my “Sirius Rising,” right up-front is Downard's enthusiastic digression on the Baines / MacBeth angle behind the JFK hit. Now, checking back, I see that he may have picked up on this from the then-obscure satirical play MacBird, dating from 1967, which reportedly plays around with the onomatology.

Shelby seems to have had prescient dark suspicions about Lyndon Baines Johnson himself, whose curiously nicknamed wife (née Claudia Taylor) started the whole bizarre Bird business. Recently, new testimony against LBJ has emerged, from Jackie Kennedy and E. Howard Hunt.
I highlighted the location of the Pope Lick Monster, which is in the Big Lick Triangle, at this Twilight Language blog, as #6, here.

Our sincere condolences to Roquel Bain's family and friends for this tragedy.

Purple Falls, Elevators, and More Prince Syncs

Prince's album 1999 was released 16 years, 4 months before the year 1999. Today is 16 years and 4 months since 1999. ~ Chris Savia, April 24, 2016

Prince, 57, died on Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, April 21, 2016.

In a tribute that was an intriguing "coincidence" at Niagara Falls, it was switched and used by officialdom to honor Prince.

Okay, what time did the world learn about Prince's death?
At 9.43 a.m. The Carver County Sheriff's Office received at 911 call from an unidentified male requesting an ambulance be sent to Prince's Paisley Park home/studio. The male initially said Prince was unconscious, later in the same call he said he was dead. Emergency services arrived, CPR was administered, he was unresponsive and at 10.07 he was pronounced dead.
...
Prince of course sang Purple Rain, and he was obsessed with the colour purple and was often shown either wearing purple or bathed in purple light.
On the day Prince died, Niagara Falls was one of many places that was bathed in Purple light, Prince fans thought this "Purple Rain" was to honour their hero, turns out it had nothing to do with Prince, it was to mark the 90th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth, and honour her REIGN!
Brewery giants Greene KING own pubs across England, and they produce beers and ales, to mark the Queens 90th birthday, they introduced a limited edition beer, "Purple Reign"! [For more, see Source.]
The first release of the news of the death of Prince was at "4/21/2016 9:49 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF." 9:49 AM PDT would be 11:49 AM CDT, local time in Minnesota.
"The Prince autopsy press conference is taking place in Chaska, Minnesota. Chaska can transpose to 'akashas.'" ~ Johnny Walsh.

Wiki: 'Chaska's history reflects the influence of the Native American culture. The first inhabitants are believed to be the Mound Builders, whose ancient communities are marked by mounds in City Square.'
If people know the history of the European pioneers and founding fathers, they would know that they were Mound Builders... they (masons) build cities on top of indian mounds (holy sites and burial grounds). They know that the indians understand the ley lines and importance of geomancy (and akasha / etheric energy). ~ Eddie Lin
"Like David Bowie and Alan Rickman, Prince was also born in he year of the dog (Dog Star Sirius) a 12-year-cycle younger." ~ Eddie Lin

Then there is the matter of the elevators.

Like the movie Devil takes place in an elevator. (h/t rexlizardo)

Music icon Prince was pronounced dead shortly after being found unresponsive in an elevator in his Paisley Park compound in Minneapolis.
That detail is haunting fans who point to the bizarre connection to a line in his hit song, "Let's Go Crazy," in which he sings, "Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down? Oh, no, let's go." But for music producer L.A. Reid, the "spooky" coincidence also reminds him of one conversation he had with the late artist.
"One time I was with him privately and he said, 'You know what the elevator is right?'" Reid recalled. "He said. 'Well, the elevator is the devil...' And so for me it was like really haunting when I read that he was found in an elevator." Source.

Which Cruz Was Photographed With Lee Harvey Oswald? A Manufactured Distraction?

In the most bizarre of weird Presidential election races ever, another strange twist just occurred this week.

The National Enquirer, a tabloid with a tabloid mentality, has published for May 2, 2016, a "World Exclusive Investigation" in which they have tied a famed incident running up to the John F. Kennedy assassination to Ted Cruz.

The claim is that Ted Cruz's father, Rafael Cruz, was photographed with Lee Harvey Oswald in New Orleans.

It is as if this story is being floated to get these rumors out there to overturn them, or make them part of the fringe. Most conservative and rightwing blogs are taking the National Enquirer story with tongue firmly in cheek.
Rumors of a link between Rafael Cruz and Lee Harvey Oswald first surfaced in the blogosphere in April 2016. The photo shows Lee Harvey Oswald handling out “Fair Play” leaflets, and a man standing nearby in the background has a passing resemblance to a young Rafael Cruz....Given lack of any proof besides a passing resemblence between the man in the photo and Rafael Cruz, we’re calling this one “unproven.” [See here, for more.]
But is a deeper truth being hidden? Some feel that's what may be happening here.

What might be the realities being revealed in the midst of this supposedly "tabloid news"?
Cuban Rafael Cruz, a pro-Batista, CIA connected Cuban in exile met his wife in New Orleans (home of Oswald, Guy Bannister, David Ferry, Clay Shaw and the great Jim Garrison). New Orleans was ground zero for the CIA’s Cuban manned “Operation Mongoose”, the Bay of Pigs and as we all know, the JFK Assassination. Anyone familiar with the assassination and the works of Mark Lane, Jim Garrison, Jim Marrs and David Lifton…and many more will be stunned by this troubling information.
It also seems that Cuban Rafael Cruz was also in Dallas, or nearby, the day of John Kennedy was assassinated.

Rafael Cruz fled to Canada shortly after Kennedy’s assassination to work in the “oil business”. The oil business? Like Zapata Oil, the CIA front company run by George Herbert Walker Bush? Yeah, that oil business.

Rafael Cruz returned to the United States after Nixon had been elected and the Bay of Pigs/JFK Assassination was put to rest for a while. He returned illegally to the United States with his son Rafael Eduardo “Ted” Cruz.

Ted Cruz got connections into Princeton and Harvard and went to work directly for the Bush Family where he met his wife, Heidi Cruz, who was also working for the Bush Family.

So how was it that Ted Cruz got right into the Bush Family Cabal so easily? His father, Rafael had favors to be paid back. Allen Dulles is long dead, but George Herbert Walker is still alive…and GHB knows Ted Cruz very, very well.
Any surprise why Neil Bush is in Ted Cruz’s executive campaign inner circle? ~ David Zephyr

Though many wish to ignore the source that produced a wider reading on these claims, it is not the National Enquirer, but Wayne Madsen out front with this story in his April 6, 2016 article,  "Was the father of presidential hopeful Cruz involved in the JFK assassination?"

Rafael Cruz, Ted's father

What's the normal background info for the photos?
On May 26, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald wrote to the New York City headquarters of the pro-Castro Fair Play for Cuba Committee, proposing to rent "a small office at my own expense for the purpose of forming a FPCC branch here in New Orleans." Three days later, the FPCC responded to Oswald's letter advising against opening a New Orleans office "at least not ... at the very beginning." In a follow-up letter, Oswald replied, "Against your advice, I have decided to take an office from the very beginning."
On May 29, Oswald ordered the following items from a local printer: 500 application forms, 300 membership cards, and 1,000 leaflets with the heading, "Hands Off Cuba." According to Lee Oswald's wife Marina, Lee told her to sign the name "A.J. Hidell" as chapter president on his membership card.
On August 5 and 6, according to anti-Castro militant Carlos Bringuier, Oswald visited him at a store he owned in New Orleans. Bringuier was the New Orleans delegate for the anti-Castro organization Directorio Revolucionario Estudantil (DRE). Bringuier would later tell the Warren Commission that he believed Oswald's visits were an attempt by Oswald to infiltrate his group. On August 9, Oswald turned up in downtown New Orleans handing out pro-Castro leaflets. Bringuier confronted Oswald, claiming he was tipped off about Oswald's leafleting by a friend. A scuffle ensued and Oswald, Bringuier, and two of Bringuier's friends were arrested for disturbing the peace. Prior to leaving the police station, Oswald requested to speak with an FBI agent. Oswald stated that he was a member of the New Orleans branch of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee which he claimed had 35 members and was led by A. J. Hidell. In fact, Oswald was the branch's only member and it had never been chartered by the national organization.
A week later, on August 16, Oswald again passed out Fair Play for Cuba leaflets with two hired helpers, this time in front of the International Trade Mart. The incident was filmed by WDSU, a local TV station. The next day, Oswald was interviewed by WDSU radio commentator William Stuckey, who probed Oswald's background. A few days later, Oswald accepted Stuckey's invitation to take part in a radio debate with Carlos Bringuier and Bringuier's associate Edward Scannell Butler, head of the right-wing Information Council of the Americas (INCA). Source.
But was it the right Cruz?

On August 9, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested on Canal Street in New Orleans and charged with disturbing the peace. The arrest was the result of a confrontation with anti-Castro Cuban exile Carlos Bringuier and two of his associates, Miguel Cruz and Celso Hernandez. Oswald was handing out pro-Castro leaflets when Bringuier, Hernandez and Cruz approached him. When Hernandez tried to take the leaflets from Oswald, a shouting match began; the New Orleans police then intervened, arresting all four individuals. Source
Miguel Cruz was a Carlos Bringuier associate. The Cruz photographed is one of the people that Oswald "hired," correct? Was he Rafael Cruz? What Cruz is who?

Oswald was the "president" and only member in New Orleans, with the address as "544 Camp Street, New Orleans, La." This was directly across from Lafayette Square, New Orleans, the center of the intelligence network in the city.

The Fair Play for Cuba Committee (FPCC) was organized by Robert Bruce Taber in 1960. It was an activist group set up in New York in April 1960, not New Orleans or even Florida.
The FPCC's purpose was to provide grassroots support for the Cuban Revolution against attacks by the United States government, once Fidel Castro began openly admitting his commitment to Marxism and began the expropriation and nationalization of Cuban assets belonging to U.S. corporations. The FPCC opposed the Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961, the imposition of the United States embargo against Cuba, and was sympathetic to the Cuban view during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.
Subsidiary Fair Play for Cuba groups were set up throughout the United States and Canada. Among its twenty-nine early notable supporters were William Appleman Williams, Norman Mailer, Truman Capote, James Baldwin, Jean-Paul Sartre, Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Waldo Frank, Alan Sagner and Carleton Beals.
The Fair Play for Cuba Committee has been the subject of much speculation. It was accused by some of being a Soviet front, with little real support outside of a few dedicated American communists. However, it seems to have been connected to the Trotskyist Socialist Workers' Party.
The FPCC achieved notoriety through the activities of Lee Harvey Oswald in New Orleans. Oswald would later be accused of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Vincent T. Lee shut down the national Fair Play for Cuba Committee in December 1963 when its landlord evicted the group from its national office; the notoriety accorded to it, following the Kennedy assassination, made it impossible for the committee to continue its work. The group continued to exist in Canada and still published several pamphlets until late 1964. Name Game Killings: 8 in Ohio & 5 in Georgia

UPDATE: Investigators found three marijuana "grow operations" at residences where eight family members were slain in southern Ohio, state Attorney General Mike DeWine said Sunday at a news conference. He didn't say whether the marijuana was connected to the execution-style killings discovered last Friday at four residences in Piketon. According to DeWine, 18 pieces of evidence has been submitted to the crime lab and at least five search warrants have been issued and completed. Source.

The name game has hit another Pike location, rather dramatically, and involved a Wayne, elsewhere.

Most Pike counties around the country are named after Zebulon Montgomery Pike Jr. (January 5, 1778 – April 27, 1813), an American soldier, explorer, and Freemason, whose Pike expedition, often compared to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, mapped much of the southern portion of the Louisiana Purchase. Pike's Peak is one of the most famous locations named after Zebulon Pike.

In The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit, Jim Brandon writes, regarding the overall "name game":
I'm not talking here of such spooky tongue-twisters as H.P. Lovecraft's Yog-Sothoth or Arthur Machen's Ishakshar, but of quite ordinary names like Bell, Beall and variants, Crowley, Francis, Grafton, Grubb, Magee/McGee, Mason, McKinney, Montpelier, Parsons, Pike, Shelby, Vernon, Watson/Watt, Williams/Williamson.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said eight people were found dead in Pike County, Ohio, on Friday, April 22, 2016.

Originally said to be seven dead, the toll is up to eight. The eight people were found shot to death at a Pike County home. Reports indicate as the people are dead in Pike County, near the Adams County line, east of Peebles.

At least eight members of the Rhoden family, including a 16-year-old boy, were found dead from gunshot wounds to the head at multiple locations along Union Hill and Left Fork roads just northeast of Peebles early Friday morning.

The name Rhoden is generally associated with the German name Roden. Roden is a name of Germanic origin, originally meaning "red valley."

[The urban dictionary says Rhoden originates from the Jamaican language; it is a mixture of words: “rawda” meaning rather and “don” usually meaning a male mafia boss. A person described as a rhoden is a person who embodies the pinnacle of all the important social aspects. If a rhoden is not at a social gathering it’s not worth going to that event. The people usually put under this “rhoden” category are usually Jamaican but can also be from African-American origins as well.]

Officials said the victims were shot "execution-style." All of the victims are believed to possibly be members of the same family, and they were found in four homes.

DeWine also told WLW radio that "the assailant is probably loose somewhere."

“This is a horrible horrible tragedy," DeWine said on WLW. "It looks like two teenagers dead and it looks like young young children who must have been there when it occurred.”

Three juveniles were also recovered alive from the crime scenes, a 4-day-old, a 6-month-old and a 3-year-old.
None of those found shot appear to be suicides, indicating that it is likely that the assailant is at large, DeWine said.

DeWine said they do not know the motive at this time.

A spokesperson for Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation said earlier that "we are sending everybody" to the shooting scene near the Adams/Pike county line. Spokesman Dan Tierney said the Pike County sheriff's office requested state help at 8:20 a.m.

Union Hill Road runs off Ohio 32 at the county line. Aerial video shows officers standing outside a home with crime scene tape around it.

More than two dozen vehicles were parked along the road in front of the home. Three ambulances and more cruisers were parked near where Union Hill Road meets Ohio 32.

The FBI in Cincinnati also said it was closely monitoring the situation and has offered assistance to the Pike County sheriff's office if needed.

Pike County victim's advocate Dave Dickerson said about 20 members of the family had gathered at the church to await information. He said they had been given little information so far.

Dickerson said he had been told as many as two children were taken to hospitals, but he didn't know anything about their identity or condition.

In Adams County, a few miles west of the crime scene, Peebles High School was on lockout for some time, but it was lifted shortly before 11 a.m.

Early reports told of seven, not eight, being killed. The house sits in Pike County, near the Pike/Adams county line.

"I was told we are out of danger. We feel sure of that," Superintendent Richard Seas said.

"Reports we are receiving from Peebles are tragic beyond comprehension," Gov. John Kasich wrote on his Twitter account.

On his Facebook page, Chris Rhoden says he's a native of Piketon, Ohio, and attended Piketon High School. A month before his death, Chris Rhoden posted a meme of a shotgun with the words, "I won't back up. I don't back down. I was raised up to stand my ground," according to sources.

Meanwhile, a man suspected of killing five people in a pair of shootings, April 22, 2016, Friday night later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Wayne Anthony Hawes, 50, of Appling, shot himself in the head, according to a statement from Columbia County (Georgia) Capt. Andy Shedd. Authorities believe he unsuccessfully tried to set his house on fire before killing himself.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office searched for Hawes, who allegedly shot five people Friday night. Shedd said the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute and some of the victims are believed to be related to Hawes' wife.

Police first responded to reports of a shooting at 7:54 p.m. Friday at a Johnson Drive house in Appling, Shedd said. Officers found three shooting victims at that crime scene: Roosevelt Burns, 75; Rheba Mae Dent, 85; and Kelia Clark, 31.

Late Friday night, Columbia County deputies say Wayne Anthony Hawes is the suspect in the Pike County deaths, allegedly, 5'9" & 230 lbs.

Within the "weird news" field, it has been a well-known truism that if a criminal has a middle name of "Wayne," no one in the newsroom is surprised he is being charged with murder. The examples are multiple. The most famous case, of course, is John Wayne Gacy. See more on the "Wayne Name Game," here and here.

Hawes is from a Norman female personal name, Haueis, from Germanic Haduwidis, composed of the elements had "strife," "contention" + wide "wide."

An alternative origin is the place's name is derived from the Old Norse word hals, meaning "neck" or "pass between mountains."

The Artist Formerly Known as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" Is Now Formerly Alive

Prince Rogers Nelson has died, on April 21, 2016. Prince was born on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and created the "Minnesota Sound."

During his career, Prince was not shy about using the twilight language of the All-Seeing Eye on his album/CD covers. Some feel he felt tied to the Illuminati. Others feel he was anti-Illuminati.

The symbol below was what took the place of Prince's name when he dropped his formal moniker for awhile.  It mwould soon be dubbed "The Love Symbol" and Prince would be referred to as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince," "TAFKAP," or simply "The Artist". Later, when he changed his name back to Prince again, he was sometimes called "The Artist Formerly Known as 'The Artist Formerly Known as Prince'".

Prince postponed two performances from his Piano & A Microphone Tour on April 7, 2016, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, stating that he was "battling the flu." On April 15, the artist's private jet was forced to land in Illinois so that he could seek medical treatment for influenza-like symptoms, after performing the rescheduled Atlanta concert the day before. He was seen in public the following evening in Minneapolis, when he stopped at the Electric Fetus on Record Store Day, and made a brief appearance at a dance party at his Paisley Park Records recording studio complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota, stating that he was feeling okay. Prince died on April 21, 2016 at 10:05 a.m., at the age of 57, having been found unresponsive in an elevator that morning at his Paisley Park complex. Denise Katrina Matthews (born January 4, 1959), better known as Vanity, died on February 15, 2016.  She was a Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and model, who turned away from her music and acting career to concentrate on evangelism. Her career lasted from the early–1980s until the mid–1990s. In 1980, she met Prince at the American Music Awards. Prince renamed her Vanity, as he considered her to be the female form of himself. After learning that Vanity could sing, Prince asked her to become the lead singer of the girl group Vanity 6. Due to her kidney problems which were caused by years of drug use while she worked as a performer, she had to undergo peritoneal dialysis five times a day (each session was 20 minutes long). She suffered from sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis, a rare complication of a peritoneal dialysis, and died in a Fremont, California, hospital on February 15, 2016, from renal failure. She was 57 years old.

The origin of the name Chanhassen comes from the Dakota word chanhasen meaning "sugar-maple tree" (chan, tree; haza, a tree with sap).

The Paisley Park Studios, where Prince was found dead, was named after his song of the same name. The studio was designed by architecture firm BOTO Design Architects of Santa Monica, California, and was completed in 1988. BOTO Design Architects is an architecture, acoustic, and interior design firm with studios in Santa Monica and Colorado. It was founded in 1983 by Principal architect Bret Thoeny in Venice, California.

Paisley is a Scottish name that means "church." The name Paisley comes from a town in Scotland that made the Indian/Persian design we know today as "paisley" famous with shawls woven in their textile mills during the 1800s. Since this pattern had its roots in the cottage industries of Paisley Abbey, it is interesting to note the word "Paisley" itself is a Scottish derivation of the Greek word, "Basilica" meaning "church". Today, the link to the 1960s is a visual recognition of this distinctive intricate pattern of curved, feather-shaped figures based on a pine-cone design from India.

"Paisley Park" is a song by Prince and The Revolution. It was the first single released in some international markets from their 1985 album, Around the World in a Day. The song has a psychedelic feel, similar to some of The Beatles' later work with echoed guitar and finger cymbals. The lyrics describe a Utopian place that one can feel in their heart, despite the chaos of the world around them. "Paisley Park" was recorded before Purple Rain was completed, indicating the new direction Prince wanted to take after the success of that album and film.

UFO Sociologist Robert L. Hall, Brother of Ufologist Richard, Died in 2013

The news sometimes takes a long time to reach a speciality community, especially if the local obituaries do not list that someone rather accomplished also did unusual research, such as on UFOs. This is the case in learning that Robert L. Hall has passed away on September 19, 2013.

"This news did not make the rounds of ufology," at the time of his death, noted one* ufologist to others, yesterday. Allow me to fill in the picture of Robert's life, in ufology and outside of it.

Robert Hall, a Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Psychology, working in his last position for 22 years at the University of Illinois in Chicago, found himself testifying before the U.S. House Committee on Science and Astronautics - Symposium on UFOs, in 1968. (The complete statement by Dr. Robert L. Hall at the 1968 hearings can be found here.)

Hall contributed and saw his paper, “Sociological Perspectives on UFO Reports,” published in Carl Sagan and Thornton Page, eds., UFO's: A Scientific Debate (New York: Norton, 1972: 213-222).

Robert Hall's paper, therefore, was read widely, as it appeared in various editions of that anthology (as shown above and below):

Robert L. Hall was also the brother of famed ufologist Richard Hall, who worked for the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, from 1958 to 1969.

In 1964 Hall researched, edited, and wrote much of The UFO Evidence, a compendium of the best UFO sightings and incidents of the 1940s, 1950s, and early 1960s. A copy of The UFO Evidence was sent to every member of Congress in 1964, and the book is still regarded by many UFO researchers and historians as one of the best UFO books ever published.

On the morning of July 17, 2009, Richard Hall passed away due to a long battle with cancer. (See my obit on Richard Hall here.)

Richard's brother, Robert L. Hall's formal obituary is posted below. It does not mention his links to UFOs, nor is that connection noted in his more formal resume, also shown below.

Our condolences to the Hall family and friends, for their dual losses.

"Space Critters" Ufologist Trevor James Constable Has Died

Another early researcher and writer in ufology has passed away. Native New Zealander Trevor James Constable, 90, died on March 31, 2016, in California.

This news comes after only recently learning of the death of Albert K. Bender, 94.

Not too surprising, because Bender and Constable were from a special era, there's an overlap between their lives.

Ufologist Nick Redfern points out in a communique to me:
Constable contributed a letter to the book Bender Mystery Confirmed. Not many people know of this book. It was a follow-up to Bender's Flying Saucers and the Three Men. It was published by Gray Barker. The Confirmed book is a collection of about 20 letters from people who had read Bender's book and who wanted to comment on it.

UFOs

Trevor Constable was an early foundation proponent that UFOs were actually "space animals," and wrote about his theories beginning in the 1950s.

Trevor James Constable began reading, intensively about "flying saucers" in 1957. Using the name "Trevor James," as the author of They Live in the Sky (1958), he tells of having attended George Van Tassel's Giant Rock convention and learned techniques to contact a mysterious entity called "Ashtar." Some in ufology link Constable to Men-in-Black through these learning experiences, although this merely appears to be his youthful introduction to the field. His direction found him going elsewhere in his exploration of UFOs.

Writing 24 years ago about Constable's role in ufology, historian Jerome Clark observed:
In two books (They Live in the Sky [1958] and The Cosmic Pulse of Life [1976]) Trevor James Constable, an aviation historian, occultist, and contactee, has offered comparable theories [to other writers of creatures living in the upper atmosphere] but gone beyond them to produce infrared photographs of aerial entities he calls "critters," which resemble one-celled life forms "complete in some cases with nuclei, nucleoli, vacuoles, and all the rest," in the words of the late biologist and anomalist Ivan T. Sanderson, a proponent of space animals [Uninvited Visitors: A Biologist Looks at UFOs, New York: Cowles, 1967]. Constable says that these phenomena are visible to the eye only under certain circumstances, when they are perceived as meteors or UFOs. Even those skeptical of space animals have not questioned Constable's sincerity, evidenced in his long commitment to his work, or accused him of faking his photographs. Though the photographs have never been explained, replications have been few, but not nonexistent. ~ Jerome Clark, The Emergence of a Phenomenon: UFOs from the Beginning through 1959 ~ The UFO Encyclopedia - Volume 2 (Chicago: Omnigraphics, 1992: 317)
A summary of his theory appears in Wikipedia:
After reading about radionics and Wilhelm Reich's orgone, Constable became convinced that supposed UFOs were in fact living organisms. He set out to prove his theorem by taking a camera with him, fitted with an ultra-violet lens and high-speed film. The processed pictured showed signs of discolouration, which Constable insisted were proof of amoeba-like animals inhabiting the sky.
Reviewing his new found 'evidence', Constable was moved to write in two books that the creatures, though not existing outside of the "infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum," had been on this Earth since it was more gaseous than solid. He claimed that the creatures belonged to a new offshoot of evolution, and that the species should be classified under macrobacteria. According to Constable, the creatures could be the size of a coin or as large as half a mile across.
The biology of the creatures supposedly meant that they were visible to radar, even when not to the naked eye. To explain supposed cattle (and occasionally human) mutilations, Constable theorised that the use of radar angered the organisms, who would become predatory when provoked. Source.
So what we find is that "inspired by Wilhelm Reich's orgone energy, Ruth Drown's radionics, the writing of Charles Fort and Arthur Conan Doyle's story The Horror of the Heights, Constable became convinced that the UFOs he heard so much about in the 1950s weren't alien spacecraft, but living beings," wrote frequent Fortean Times contributor Mark Pilkington in The Guardian in 2005.

But is it not a zoologist who would have these supposed creatures as Amoebae constablea, named after their discoverer, as Pilkington writes. Nor is it "crypto-zoologists" [sic], as Wikipedia would have you consider the basis of that Latin name.

No, the author of Ablaze! is the source of this piece of Constable lore.  The Fortean researcher "Larry Arnold believes that these plasmamoeboids--whom he dubs in gratitude to Mr. Constable with the scientific name Amoebae constablea--emit energies that may be a cause of Spontaneous Human Combustion if they are in close proximity to a human being," notes Andrew Gaze.

Trevor Constable took the photograph directly above, on May 17, 1958, at Giant Rock, California, the object above the ridge was not seen by witnesses at the time.

The Cosmic Pulse of Life was revised and reissued at Sky Creatures: Living UFOs, in 1978.

Trevor Constable was still taking photographs that he said were of living UFOs into the 21st century.

In lectures early in the 2000s, Constable would use NASA's own space infrared films to show evidence of space animals, as can be seen five minutes into the video posted above. Constable would also make appearances on radio programs.

Cloud busting

Constable, after becoming interested in the cloud busting work of Wilhelm Reich, studied the field.
Trevor James Constable, originally from New Zealand, worked in the merchant marines for over 31 years as a merchant marine radio officer, he travelled on enormous ships crossing the north eastern pacific ocean over 300 times, this gave him the opportunity to experiment with his research based on Wilhelm Reich's work.

After Trevor retired from the Merchant Marines, Trevor launched the world's first Airborne Etheric (another name for Orgone) Weather Engineering Operation based in Singapore from the late 1980s to the 2000; Trevor worked with US Air Force retired Colonel W.A."Willy" Schauer, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer George K. C. Wuu and US Air Force General retired Curtis Emerson LeMay [November 15, 1906 – October 1, 1990]. Trevor has proven rain records, radar and federal filling showing his success. Source.
Aviation Histories

Trevor Constable was also a military historian and author, having written eleven non-fiction books, many well known to aficionados of famous fighter aces. Mostly coauthored with Colonel Raymond F. Toliver, Trevor J. Constable's titles included Fighter Aces of the Luftwaffe, The Blond Knight of Germany: A Biography of Erich Hartmann, and many similar books. In 2015, a volume appeared combining his interest in little-known military histories, UFOs, and rainmaking, entitled Hidden History, Rain Engineering and UFO Reality.

Life

Trevor James Constable had a long and varied life.

Living in San Pedro, California, at the time of his death on March 31, 2016, he was born September 17, 1925, in Wellington, New Zealand.

Wikipedia (unaware that Constable had died earlier, as of 4.16.2016), nevertheless, have online a thoughtful entry on the man, and recalled Constable "served 31 years at sea, 26 of them as a radio officer in the U.S. merchant marine."

Constable is remembered in his official obituary as "a prolific author of WW2 aviation histories, and pioneer in the subjects of ufology, and rain engineering. Professionally, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines at age 17 and worked for most of that time as the radio-electronics officer. Later he was employed by Matson Shipping and served as the Communication's Officer aboard the U. S. Maui for nearly two decades.
Besides his writing and research work, Mr. Constable was known to have a great understanding of homeopathy and good health, a love for cats, a remarkable vocabulary, and a wonderful sense of humor."

He is survived by his wife Gloria of 35 years, and his daughter Diana (Neroni) currently of Las Vegas, and grandson Maximilian Constable now living in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Trevor James Constable has many admirers in ufology.
